It’s Time to Plant Lettuces!

Three weeks ago, I planted some lettuce starters in my garden hoping it wasn’t too soon. When I returned from a two-week vacation, I had lettuce ready to eat. Planting lettuce this time of year produces HANDS DOWN the best lettuce of the season – tender and sweet. Lettuce definitely prefers the cooler weather we have in the Napa Valley right now.

My favorite lettuces include Simpson Elite, Lollo Rossa, Red Sails and Four Season Wonder. Organic, of course. I also love alternating chartreuse and dark red lettuces in my boxes which look gorgeous.

If you find something nipping away at your lettuce, it may be snails. Try organic Sluggo to keep them at bay.
